B-17 Rum Dum from the 385th Bomb Group 550 Bomb Squadron at Great Ashfield, England Bill Varnedoe, who was a Navigator in the same Bomb Group told me. "Rum Dum had battle damage on 10 April 45, and dropped out of the formation on the way back from mission #288 to Neuruppin,Italy, was then 'repaired' and flown back to Horington, England for repairs, but crashed on landing and was salvaged".
