Me109G-14/AS flown by Richard Franz
Model built by Erik Whipple

Green 1 flown by German Ace Richard Franz. Featured in the story by Richard on the Air Combat with the 357th FG over Arnhem. This beautiful model was built by Erik Whipple. Erik did extensive research on this plane and got information from Richard.
Model Details:
Kit used as a basis for the project was a 1/48 Hasegawa G-10.
After receiving Richard Franz's responses to his 'multiple choice' diagrams,
Erik determined that this plane had a cowl similar to the type 100 and tall tail
with upper and lower trim tabs. Erik scratch built some details in the
cockpit and wheel wells, and added the Kendall cockpit set as well as the
Airwaves P/E set. He corrected the oil filler and CWSD hatches on the cowl,
Kendall elevators, scratch built canopy and cockpit features including battery box, canopy
retention and release mechanisms, airwaves rudder pedals & radiator screens, scratch built wheel well and drop
tank rack details, brake lines and retainer cuffs, repositioned ailerons,
hollowed out cowl scoops, True Details wheels, P/E metal loop and stick
antennae, a clear fuel line sight glass, drilled out gun and cannon barrels, and
deployed slats with tracks. "Oberhubatz" was hand rendered.
